Meerkat Manager (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your data when you use our platform at meerkatmanager.com (the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and an encrypted password. If you are invited by another user, we receive your email address from them.

Content You Provide

We store the content you create on the platform, including chat messages, files, documents, tasks, calendar events, forms, and any other data you submit to folders.

AI-Processed Data

Our AI assistant (Meerkat) processes your messages, files, and documents to extract key information, create summaries, and generate memories. All AI-generated content is visible and editable by folder members.

Usage Data

We collect standard web analytics data including IP addresses, browser type, device information, and pages visited to improve the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To process your content through AI for summaries, memory extraction, and task management
• To send you transactional emails (invitations, password resets, notifications)
• To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
• To improve the Service and develop new features

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in PostgreSQL databases hosted by Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled. Files are stored in private storage buckets with per-folder access controls. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Supabase — Database, authentication, file storage, and real-time infrastructure
• Vercel — Application hosting and deployment
• Resend — Transactional email delivery
• AI Providers — We may send your content to AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Groq, DeepSeek) for processing. If you use the “Bring Your Own Keys” option, your data is sent to the provider you configure.
• PayFast — Payment processing (we do not store your payment card details)

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your folder content is shared only with members of that folder, as determined by your folder’s membership settings. We may share data with law enforcement if required by a valid legal request.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

7. Data Retention

Your account data and content are retained for as long as your account is active. Episodic AI memories have a 90-day retention period. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

8. Your Rights (POPIA)

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Object to the processing of your personal information
• Withdraw consent for data processing
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

9. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
